My 9yr old son and I went out with it after it arrived and put it in the pool and yes it did move around the pool and you can kind of steer it but it goes incredibly slow and is not very manuverable. Tried a couple different sets of brand new batteries and didn't make any difference. Got bored in about 15 minutes. Tried having the kids play around with it on a couple of other occassions just to give it a fair try out before declaring it just not a whole lot of fun.
On one hand, you get what you pay for when you buy something cheap. On the other hand, I would be a lot more annoyed if I would have paid more and it would have been as boring as this one. Kids are still interested in having boats to race in the pool so I am going to check it out a bit more before buying another one.
