(More customer reviews)My son just got this for his 4th birthday on Dec. 1, 2010. He was super excited (it was an "all Toy Story" birthday). He likes his remote controlled cars and he loves Toy Story - what could miss?
Unfortunately, the remote control portion of this toy is pretty lame. You turn the unit on and it is then ON. It will constantly run backwards (it's supposed to be this way; noted in the directions). It will run in counterclockwise backward circles anytime it is switched "On." If you press the button the remote, it then goes straight and forward. Now, theoretically, that's pretty nice for really little kids who wouldn't understand a more complicated remote control. However, my son found it really frustrating, since, every time he'd put the remote down, he'd have to go chase it to "catch" it to turn it off. SO, he gave up doing that and just started letting it run. It didn't take long for the batteries in the actual "pig" to run out. However, I will say the range of the remote control seems good. We have a very large playroom and he could still control it from the other end. The antenna on the remote is very flimsy, though. It's already pretty bent.
Now, about the actual "pig." Giving up on the "remote" part, he loves to make it pretend to fly. It is also a popular part of his imagined scenes with his Woody, Buzz, Slinky, and Rex. The pig is obviously pretty "hollow," but otherwise seems to be of decent enough quality to stand up to the beatings of a four-year-old. It's already been down the steps more times than I can count ("flying" I suppose...) and it's doing fine.
