When we called, they said, "oh it's on backorder", but said they would refund our money since we didn't want to wait that long. Now, two months later, they've never refunded our money and won't answer their phone (just try to call!) or any e-mails. I've filed with the BBB, but think it's rediculous that Amazon still has them on their site! Oh, we did end up getting this boat from another seller. It's really fast, but after two uses it only works intermittenly. We haven't figured out why.

(More customer reviews)Aloha Just finished the model. It floats great BUT will not stay up right. It wants it tip over on it's side. I took the Texas cabint off and it stayed upright but if a little breeze or on a turn it will tip over on it's side. With the main cabin off it runs great. Big deal,if I wanted a model to put on the shelf I would not have powered it up. Batteries,motor, servio's, rc controls etc. I e-mailed Dumas but no answer yet. Fun to build and looks great but to sail it not good. On one of the RC clubs all the video's I looked at,none of them showed a stern wheeler paddling around that was complete. Just the hull, motor, electric or steam and the paddle wheel.

(More customer reviews)i got this boat off of the makers of this boats website, it shipped, then it got backordered and came about 3 weeks later. i charged it and took it to my pool, it ran fine. a few days later the right propeller and shaft got jammed and the boat overheated, something blew up and it was smoking. so then i find out that the makers will not take it back and i am really pissed. so i am stuck with a boat that charges for 6 hours and runs for abut 1 minute before it starts to die because of the right propeller.
STUPID!

Military Battleship 1/360 RC 28" Warship R/C Cruiser HT-3827 Review

(More customer reviews)I purchased one of these from another vender back in some time ago. I was surprised by the level of detail; it is more like a scale model than a toy in appearance. Some of the finer details break off easily but this does not affect the function of the boat. It looks very much like the German WW II Battleship Bismarck in ~1/350 scale. After having it for a while I disassembled it and painted more to scale, it looks good as is but with a nice scale model like paint job it is even better. For a more scale appearance, I also removed the incorrect missile launchers from amidships and put a crude float plane catapult and plane from my parts box and modified some of the masts.
The boat runs real well forward, reverse, left and right. There is no "throttle" just go or no go. There is no steering trim adjustment so it may not run in a real straight line. This model is a bit narrower that some of the other "HT" RC models available and so it can be a bit more tippy.
It has a neat safety feature: the motors will not run unless the boat is in the water or some other form of conductor touching both propeller shafts. I found this out when bench testing the boat before I used it in water. The information on the box (which is the only "manual" you get) is not real clear about this feature.
A couple things to bear in mind that it is VERY IMPORTANT to get any water that seeps in the ship out when done for the day or the motors will rust up very quickly and you will have a one use RC toy that is now a static model. For initial use an adult and/or someone familiar with RC should help with the initial set up. Also you have just spent around $50 for a toy with the size and detail that you find on RC ships costing ten times the price, so something had to give somewhere. On the ones I have purchased all the operation and maintenance information you get is on the outside of the box and is poorly translated, so read it carefully. If you find you self not understanding what is on the box I recommend you pack it up and send it back.
Over the past four years I have purchased several RC boats/ships in various price ranges. For around $50 this is one of the better ones, but that may not be saying much. This one is fine for what it is. To get a real decent ready to run RC boat/ship you are looking a spending around $200.00 to $500.00 or more. For other options: The other "HT" boats I have include ones that look like a Sovremenny DDG in 1/200 scale, a Kiev class Carrier in ~1/350 , and torpedo boat in 1/72 scale. All these seem to be based on a scale model kits and have good detail. There is another generic BB of cruiser that I do not like the looks of so much but it works fine. See my other reviews.

31" RC HT-2879 Destroyer War Ship Review

(More customer reviews)I was looking for an rc boat that was different from everything else out there. By choice or chance I came upon the Smasher RC HT-2879, and it's pretty durn cool.
Some good info to remember though. It's not super-detailed museum quality, and it shouldn't be. It's made for fun on the pond. The transmitter range is kind of weak, and the battery definitely doesn't last long. By using two propellers to control direction instead of a rudder it's less than satisfactory. Right from the box one of the motors was less powerful than the other, and since you can only go at full speed or none at all my boat will make large curves across the pond when attempting to go straight. Proper throttle controls or a real rudder would fix this, but then I'm sure it would be more expensive.
It's a cool boat, not like everything else on the pond, but it does leave a lot to be desired.
Update! After I wrote this review I took the boat out for the second time on the pond. About five minutes in I watched as the starboard (right) motor completely died, leaving my boat doing lazy circles out in the middle of the pond. Given its performance, I don't think I can recommend this anymore.

(More customer reviews)This toy overjoyed my 6- and 7-year olds. We took it to a local pond, where it moved slowly but was fun to control. Unfortunately, the hull penetration for the propeller allows water to enter the hull, and the boat starts to subside at the stern. It says to take it out and drain the water out periodically, which we did, and which would be fine except that after a few trips the boat stopped responding, of course about 20 ft away in the middle of the pond. We let it dry out for a few days, tried again and the same thing happened; this time there was no recovery.
The sad thing is that it looks like the design would be very easy to correct (by the mfr) but there's no obvious remedy for the user.

It's incredibly durable, and can even sometimes take on surf up to a few feet tall. I put my water-proof camera on it and drove it around, which I came back with some incredibly stunning footage. (More customer reviews)We have really enjoyed this boat. It goes fast, and the price was extremely reasonable. I have 2 recommendations: 1. go ahead and buy an additional battery for the boat. The battery life is short (15-30 min). If you buy another one and charge it up, you can pop that one in when the first one runs out and play for almost an hour. 2. Don't drive this boat in a body of water that you cannot swim in! If it gets out of range of the remote control you have to go in after it. Also, if the battery dies while you are out at sea you will have to go in after it. Other than that, we were extremely happy with the size, weight, and look of the boat, as well as the performance.

A major point not noted in the instructions is that the motors in this boat only run when the boat is in the water (safety issue I presume).
Other than that, it's fairly high quality, quite durable (survives head-on crashes into the side of a swimming pool at full speed), and runs for about 15 minutes on a charge if you use the throttle modestly. And yes, this thing hauls !
