(More customer reviews)We purchased this for a gift and got it out to put batteries in and make sure it worked. Within 30 seconds a track came off. After replacing it, it ran for about 2 1/2 more minutes before one of the turn wheels quit turning. Terrible toy!
Also the amazon seller won't give me information for return. Big mistake.

Wild Planet Spy Video Car Review

(More customer reviews)Pretty expensive but I ended up splurging and getting it for my 8 year old nephew for this coming Christmas. I ended up giving it to him this weekend instead; I wanted to see it go too and couldn't wait 4 months!
My nephew REALLY likes it but, oy!, is the video bad -- what they show in the online commercial is quite a bit clearer and contrasty than what we see in our actual unit. I think the infrared aspect blurs things a bit and its sensitivity is pretty low in any case. You can't read ANY writing thru the video, regardless of size of print, etc. Still, the video link is minimally serviceable (adequate for manuevering with a little bit of practice) and my nephew has a BIG time sitting in his "command center" and sending it out on "remote missions" using only the onboard video link. Seems fairly robust and sturdy so far.

(More customer reviews)My 8 year old just got this for his birthday. He's been having loads of fun with it. It's easy to control. Too loud to truly be sneaky but still fun. The video camera quality is quite good and the monitor on the remote is good as well. Nice resolution, but keep in mind it is a toy not a cell phone. It can clearly see across a 15ft room in light and the night vision will see a good 7ft with all the lights out. We haven't done any of the advanced computer-linked stuff or downloaded apps or that, so I can't comment on that, but it seems there are some advanced programming options to explore as he gets older.
There is a slight delay between the video/audio the camera receives and what you see/hear on the monitor but once you get used to it, it's easy to work with.
The camera will record video and still pictures and of course show where you are driving around. 10 AA batteries are required as well. 6/robot 4/remote
If there were one thing I would improve, I wish it had the ability for the camera to look up/down by remote control. You can adjust the camera up/down with your hand but once it's set it stays in that position until you manually adjust it. Not a big deal really. My son didn't even know it would move up/down at all until I showed him and he'd been having tons of fun seeing everything at feet level.
Seems like a quality well constructed toy that will provide entertainment for a long time.
