(More customer reviews)So this is the new Rally, bas on the popular platform that the it shares with the mini e-revo, summit, slash 1/16, and that is about as positive it comes.
i received this car in the beginning of january, as i love the look of a hot hatchback, and i had owned the mini revo before and i really liked that, but i was disappointed very much so !
the good.
*its durable, good traxxas plastic
*motor is brushless and powerful
*drive line is good
*lots of parts from the revo fits this one so theres lots of upgrades and after market parts
*can be very fast with other tires
*2.4ghz from traxxas is in its second version, with multiple car memory good range and nice ergonomics
the bad
*the tires are awful, they are hard rubber which has little grip/traction so it doesn't fare well as a touring car, its not hard/slick enough to do drifting well either.
*this car likes to spin out under acceleration, high speed, going into turns
*it has tons of body roll
*as a rally car i would like to see it do both on and off road but his cannot, it is strictly onroad and not very good at that, they should have called it something else, rally is mis leading
*due to body shape the motor and esc does not get much airflow and the esc would repeatadly go into thermal protection running two traxxas nimh packs in dual, even when taking it easy, the motor will get very hot which is not good either, ESC fan and motor heatsink recommended, traxxas does not offer thesei own several RC cars(20+) from HPI, Losi, Traxxas, Tamie and chinese cheap cars, and i have never wanted to get rid of one until i got the Rally it is that bad, you can go out buy new tires (which will cost a small fortune) get a spoiler, different shock oil, ESC fan, motor heatsink, dremel airflow holes in the body and much more, and you would be left with a car that is just ok, not good nor great.
this is not a recommended buy....any of the other 1/16 scale revo based cars from traxxas are good and fun, but the rally is just horrible. I am so disappointed
