The microphones work great on the player we received. There is an on/off switch for each microphone and a volume control separate from the music volume control. It's easy to use and durable (and my son is not that easy on his toys). There's a mail-in coupon for a free 2-CD set which is a remarkable bargain. The price, free 2-CD set, and twin microphones all helped me decide that this was the right CD player for us. I'm giving it 5 stars and a high recommendation.

(More customer reviews)This is a great, but basic starter car for anyone looking for something a little better than your standard sub $50 toy R/C cars you buy from the cheap outlets or market resellers. This unit comes with everything you need to start driving the car (except 8 x AA batteries which you need to supply for the transmitter). Just charge up the included battery, connect it, secure the body down, sort out your transmitter and off you go. The car handles very nicely, and while not terribly fast, you can certainly generate a bit of speed quickly with the included motor. The oil filled shocks are good and overall build quality seems quite good.
Spare parts are available, but hopefully not needed for a long while. This is a 27Mhz system so range is limited compared to a 2.4Ghz but still plenty of range to reach up and down most suburban streets. Battery life seems very good compared to other RC cars I have used/owned. Overall a nice package and I guess it could be easily upgraded if you wanted to (brushless motor etc).

Air Hogs Twin Thunder - Colors May Vary Review

(More customer reviews)Been looking at these little helicoptors for a while, and recieved this one as a gift. How neat!! Takes some patients to learn to fly it, and get the trim controls set right so it doesn't just take off one direction. The battery lasts for about 6 mins after about 20 mins. of charge, which is okay, but the last two mins or so of the charge is weaker than the first few mins, so the copter is not as responsive in the last few mins of the charge. Also I've got the foward / reverse trim set all the way to reverse, just to keep it from flying forward on it's own, which is really the only flaw thus far. I have to say I've crashed the thing probably 50 plus times in the few days I've had it, and for the most part it's in the same condition as when it was new.
I will say, I've got 12 foot ceilings in my house, and took it to a house with only 8 foot ceilings and it was almost impossible to keep it flying for any amount of time. A warehouse building or something would be ideal for this little guy. Not meant for a small room, so if you're in an appartment or something you're not going to get as much out of it.
All in all a good toy for the price, and great for anyone of teenage years or older. I can't see a child of 8 or so having much fun with this as it does take some practice time to learn to keep control of it.

1/16 Rally Racer VXL 4WD RTR with 2.4GHz Radio Review

i received this car in the beginning of january, as i love the look of a hot hatchback, and i had owned the mini revo before and i really liked that, but i was disappointed very much so !
the good.
*its durable, good traxxas plastic
*motor is brushless and powerful
*drive line is good
*lots of parts from the revo fits this one so theres lots of upgrades and after market parts
*can be very fast with other tires
*2.4ghz from traxxas is in its second version, with multiple car memory good range and nice ergonomics
the bad
*the tires are awful, they are hard rubber which has little grip/traction so it doesn't fare well as a touring car, its not hard/slick enough to do drifting well either.
*this car likes to spin out under acceleration, high speed, going into turns
*it has tons of body roll
*as a rally car i would like to see it do both on and off road but his cannot, it is strictly onroad and not very good at that, they should have called it something else, rally is mis leading
*due to body shape the motor and esc does not get much airflow and the esc would repeatadly go into thermal protection running two traxxas nimh packs in dual, even when taking it easy, the motor will get very hot which is not good either, ESC fan and motor heatsink recommended, traxxas does not offer thesei own several RC cars(20+) from HPI, Losi, Traxxas, Tamie and chinese cheap cars, and i have never wanted to get rid of one until i got the Rally it is that bad, you can go out buy new tires (which will cost a small fortune) get a spoiler, different shock oil, ESC fan, motor heatsink, dremel airflow holes in the body and much more, and you would be left with a car that is just ok, not good nor great.
this is not a recommended buy....any of the other 1/16 scale revo based cars from traxxas are good and fun, but the rally is just horrible. I am so disappointed

(More customer reviews)This plane is a lot of fun. My 2 boys are not yet ready for the more expensive 1000 ft range remote control planes so they have this for their training. The plane is very light, made with extremely light styro foam. Charging the plane is similar to those remote controlled helicopters. One thing I can say is this thing is one tough cookie. It smashes into walls, trees, asphalts, you name it and it still goes on, and on, and on.
The remote is a little bit too big and heavy for smaller kids. Requires 6 AAs. Our main complaint is handling. It is really not that simple to maneuver this baby. You turn the control left or right but we could not figure out if the plane has a mind of its own. Still, lots of smiles and joyful flights!

F-27C Stryker PNP Review

(More customer reviews)I purchased the "plug and play" version of the Stryker so could use my own radio and receiver set (a JR9303 and R770). It's really hard to believe, but you can be down at your local field (a park is probably too small) and have this thing screaming up and down the lane at close to 100MPH in about 25 minutes. Put on the nose cone and tailfins, install your battery, and fly...That's really all there is to it. With the included brushless motor this thing will accelerate vertically until it's out of sight. Also, repair parts are super-cheap and readily available. Minor repairs are easy, considering this is just a big hunk of styrofoam.
The only thing I had to "modify" on this model was changing the ESC/battery connection from the round Parkzone one to a Deans - since that's what my other models have....Five minutes of solder work, and this thing was ready to go....fast. Make sure, of course, if you're purchasing the plug and play version, that you've got a computer radio capable of elevon setup - otherwise you'll need to get a delta mixer.
It's definitely not a toy, and it's not for beginners (perhaps if you kept it under 60% throttle or so), but is high fun / low hassle for a great price.

Air Hogs Switchblade 27 MH Black/Yellow Review

(More customer reviews)So, I have gotten my son almost every air hog there is and all the flying ones stink. This is the first one that actually flies somewhat decently, however, we had to go play with it on a football field. You need a lot of room.....I mean A LOT of room. First let me say that I found this to be very durable. This dropped easily 50 feet into the hard dirt many times and it still works (they do give you extra parts). If you are unfortunate enough to break the styrofoam, you are done. I was unable to get a launch with the launch holder but was very successful with a manual launch. A word of caution here: although it is styrofoam, beware, this is a dangerous toy. The props are quite strong and caught the inside of my palm that almost gave me a two inch cut. Though it did not break the skin, my hands are fairly tough, and I believe it would have easily cut through softer skin, especially a childs. I would keep children close and behind you in case you need to deflect it. Some words of advice for an easier launch, send it up in a twist (it's actually fun to let it climb and try to make it hover) then press the mode button when it is at least 30 feet up and then practice steering. Try to find a big field, because it will hit the hardest when it is in flying mode (versus the twisting helicopter type mode). I don't know how easy it would be for a 10 year old, as I had to take a lot of time to get even basic controls working. The worst part is that once you get fairly comfortable the battery dies out and you need to recharge it. That's frustrating. Those are all worth a total deduction of 2 stars. Still, it is fun, and your kids will love it (if they can get it out of your hands). Do not use this in windy conditions as the wind will just take it away or send it crashing down. Use it in a field to help avoid a catastrophic crash. Send it up spinning and practice with that first so that you are comfortable with the controls. I think this one will actually work well with enough practice and adjusting the trim. I was not impressed with the "carrying case," which turns out to be the box it came in with a cardoard handle. Most of these are completely useless. This one actually does what it says, and with some patience, you should be able to have some fun (but you will also spend some time going after it to pick it up).

Lot's of GREAT advertising to make us think the toy would 'defy gravity'. When we opened the box, gave it a full charge, (just as the instructions indicated) and then tried to use it as described in the listing - we were HORRIBLY disappointed.
We tried driving it up regular (textured) walls & really smooth walls. Bottom line: it was not even CLOSE to powerful enough to get itself off the floor or support its weight when it was on the wall... Forget about the ceiling!
Even worse - it drives a lot slower than other remote control cars when it is on the floor. If you're looking at this with the hope that it will be as cool as it sounds - do not waste your money! This is the first review we've ever left ... it is the most disappointed we've ever been in our hundreds of purchases from Amazon.

OK, I have tons of R/C cars ranging from these sub $20 cars to $500 Xrays. I guess you can call me an R/C nut. Anyway, when my son received one of these for his birthday present, I thought this is pretty cool. It has suspension (although pretty simple) and even a turbo boost button. When I first tried to charge it, it didn't seem to work. Disappointed, I went to the store (amazon didn't have any yet) and purchased another to try it out. That one worked fine, and I tried to deduce if the original car or charger was bad by swapping each. It turns out I wasn't charging it right (user error), but after I figured that out, all was good. So we have two of these, and one of those cars that can run up walls. We also have hardwood floors, which is perfect for these little cars. We often play "tag" with the cars and they run perfect on the flat surface. Charge time is about 90 sec (you have to press the turbo button while charging) and runtime is about 8-10 min? (actually haven't timed it). For the price, it's a pretty good deal - but don't expect a high-performance racing machine. Come on,$15 is pretty cheap when it comes to R/C. You'll also notice that the front tires sometimes snap out of the steering arm. It's not a problem and can easily be snapped back in, but don't get worried or mad when this happens. Think about it, would you rather have a busted piece of plastic or something that's designed to breakaway on impact and can be reset? Anyway, pretty cool for the price. My 5 year old son and 8 yo daughter love the tag racing. Enjoy!

DX3R DSM2 3-Channel Surface Radio Review

(More customer reviews)The latest iteration of Spektrum's DSM series of transmitters simply blows the competition away. The DX3R is without a doubt the best transmitter you can buy! Yeah, yeah, it's a "racer's" radio, but for those who are tired of "glitching" (as ALL AM and some FM radios are prone to), spektrum's DX3R is your answer. Spektrum has been working with some RC manufacturers in creating better OEM transmitters for their RTR cars and trucks, but they saved the best for themselves, and why not? They practically own the Spread-Spectrum market.
The DX3R has all the improvements racers wanted from their DX2.0 and DX3.0 transmitters. The grip has a better shape, the antenna "bends" at it's base, rather than 2 inches up, and best of all, Spektrum finally integrated the roller used in their "air" radios. The roller makes changing settings a snap. Just press and roll, then press again to lock in your choices. Simple.
The wheel can be switched for lefties, and all the appropriate parts are included. This makes the DX3R a transmitter for anyone. It also takes only four AA batteries, instead of eight, as in other brands. The menu has more adjustments to "tailor" the way your car or truck performs! Need less oomph for a tight track? Simply adjust it with the roller! How about max power for bashing with your buddies? Same-same!
There is only one gripe I have with this transmitter. Spektrum opted to drop Throttle Dead-Band (TDB) on the DX3R. Now the dead spot just off neutral has to be adjusted out in a way that is more complicated than either the Dx2.0 or DX3.0., both of which have the TDB feature. Also, the exponential for throttle and steering is reversed. I found this out after my E-Maxx did a six-somersault stop, shedding parts along the way (maybe I should have read the instruction manual better!)!
The one major improvement to this system is the receiver. Spektrum is now using "micro" sized receivers for their DSM2 radio systems. This makes receiver placement much more practical, but if you use the OEM receiver box, you'll notice that there is a lot more room in it, after installing the DSM2 receiver! Also, the DX3R uses what Spektrum calls "modelmatch". This means that your DX3R and ONLY your DX3R can operate your car or truck (think of it akin to your RC car or truck having it's own ignition key!).
Alot of folk I know use the Airtronics M11 and swear by it, but why spend so much when Spektrum offers the DX3R for around $200.00 less! and think of this, if Airtronics owners want DSM, they STILL have to buy a Spektrum module system! On top of all that, the DX3R is HALF the size of the M11!
Spektrum in my book, is STILL top dog for RC transmitters. Sure, you could keep on using your OEM transmitter, and for most folk, that's just fine, but if you want more versatility from your RC car or truck, the Spektrum DX3R is the ONLY choice!

Disney Princess Jewelry Box/CD Boombox Review

(More customer reviews)Our daughter listens to CDs every day - sometimes several times per day. To say her player gets a lot of use is an understatement. Although my daughter loved that this player was Disney Princess branded and a jewelry box, it's really more of a novelty item than a boom box, and didn't last for more than a few months. The overall item was still in good shape, but the player began to not be able to read CDs fairly frequently until it stopped reading them altogether. For whatever reason, we bought another and the same thing happened within 6 months. For $50, I would definitely rate this a poor value.
