(More customer reviews)We bought this for our 5 year old son for Christmas. Previously he has been driving around a "Power Wheels" Jeep that was my daughter's until she outgrew it, so we can give you a head-to-head comparison between the two. The F150 is quite a bit bigger than the Jeep, it came in a HUGE box! It is wider, taller and longer; and has much more clearance underneath. There is some assembly involved as well as applying of decals, but the instructions are good and the assembly is nothing complicated. I haven't seen this mentioned before in the reviews, but the "Monster Traction" feature comes by way of a separate electric motor driving each rear wheel (2 motors total). Typical Power Wheels have a single electric motor driving one rear wheel while the other rear wheel free-wheels. The Monster Traction definitely works, the Jeep gets stuck in certain places in our yard (particularly on the grade changes between pavement and grass) while the F150 easily breezes across those same areas. But here's something you need to know, if you install the low speed lockout on a Monster Traction vehicle, it no longer has Monster Traction! Only the right rear wheel is active at low speed and in reverse. As a result, it gets stuck on all but the most solid terrain in low speed or in reverse. In reading some of the complaints about traction here I'm guessing this is due to low speed running. You've got to keep it on high to take advantage of the Monster Traction driving both rear wheels.
Other comments- the construction is very robust like all F-P Power Wheels vehicles, it'll no doubt last a long time. The radio is a neat feature for the kids to play with. Reception isn't fantastic, but they like it just fine. The F150 is nicely finished out and looks close enough to the real thing to make our son feel like he's driving a vehicle rather than riding on a toy. I rate this as an excellent purchase for the money and fully expect it to last many years just as the Jeep has.

(More customer reviews)I have a 3 yr old, and he loves. The steering is realistic, there is a mock stereo and a horn that you can honk. When I bought the car, he couldn't drive: now he can go forward and backward and steer and actually pull into a parking spot beside actual cars.
The only complaint: the back wheels spin occasionally if there is one occupant: when this happens, an adult has to go in and hold the rear of the car down to help the car regain traction... I guess if the manufacturer made the rear of the car heavier, this problem wouldn't exist. But, overall for $200, I am very happy and my son loves it!

(More customer reviews)We purchased this for the holiday season for our 3 year old and I know already that we're going to get many years of use out of it! While this is a high end product price wise, it's really worth it as my daughter is 3 and I know from neighbours and friends that own Power Wheels toys that my daughter will be using this until she is at least 6 or 7, so that's a few years of use, which means good value for money! I can already picture it decorated for the 4th of july parade in the neighbourhood!
It does take a couple of hours to assemble and be warned, if you are giving it as a gift for the holidays, be prepared to charge it a good day before you present the gift.
Thumbs up, we love it!

(More customer reviews)My almost 5 year old son loves driving his Jeep all over the neighborhood. Because of the better handling and wheel design (not slanted), the Jeep is remarkably agile. What my kid has done so far:
- Taken the Jeep off road on bike trails
- Drive through iced dirt
- Drive through 1/2" mud
- Drive through 1/4" water puddles
- Pull passengers on a tied on Wagon (We almost died laughing)
I agree with the previous reviewer that the car is a bit big for a sub 3 year old, but my younger one (2.5) loves being the passenger.

At the time of this writing Amazon is selling it for nearly twice what virtually every other vendor is selling it for. A little shopping around will greatly increase your savings! With that in mind...
The Power Wheels toys are all largely the same in dimensions and capabilities, differing largely on simple aesthetics. Whether it's a Mustang or a Jeep or an Escalade or whatever, they all largely do the same thing in the same manner so really this review could apply to just about all Power Wheels toys.
In a nutshell, this one arrives in BRIGHT Barbie Pink (naturally) and features two forward speeds, one reverse speed, a horn, a radio, and a battery life indicator. Two bucket seats will easily accomodate two toddler-sized children without cramping or elbow fighting. My two year old daughter is BARELY able to reach the pedal; although I know it's not sanctioned by Fisher-Price, I velcro'ed a 2" thick wooden block to the top of the pedal which allows my daughter to reach it more easily.
Assembly isn't terribly difficult but does require a bit of direction-following. As so many things are, "some assembly is required." Armed with a Philips-head screwdriver, a comfortable workspace and a little help from your fellow parent it shouldn't take more than 5-10 minutes to fully assemble the vehicle. IMPORTANT TIP FOR PARENTS: Even if you're planning to assemble the car after you present it to your child, remove the battery and charger from the box and charge it up overnight so that, when the car is fully assembled, your child can immediately drive it.
The car has two forward speeds and one reverse, selected by a console-mounted shift lever. Out of the box the "high" forward speed is locked out. Mommy or daddy needs to do a little 'under the hood' tinkering to remove the lock-out, a process which takes less than a minute to complete. This is done as a safety measure, particularly for younger children who may get scared over the faster speed or simply are still learning how to control the car. In "low" speed the car moves at a casual walking pace, while in "high" speed it's more like a brisk walking pace. Reverse is in "low" speed but, of course, backwards.
I found that, even at "low" speed, the car has a tendency to burn rubber (plastic) when only my daughter is in it. On simple asphalt the rear tires easily spin three or four times before gaining traction. On grass it gains traction a lot sooner but there's still at least one wheel spin. With a second child in the car this traction issue goes away; since my daughter is a year under Fisher-Price's recommended minimum age I'm sure this issue will resolve itself once my daughter grows and gains weight.
It's important to note that, like all Power Wheels, the motor is either fully-on or fully-off. It's not like a real car where you can feather the throttle for variable speed. Either the car is in full motion (traction and gravity notwithstanding), or it's not.
Steering is limited with a very wide turning radius - about 18 feet, which is almost as wide as a two-car driveway. It is therefore fairly certain that your child will, at some point, run into a situation where he/she will need to either learn to drive in reverse or get out of the car and push it until it faces the right direction.
The body is reasonably stable so far as these toys go. The hood opens to reveal the battery; the doors and trunk lid do NOT open. My daughter had a little bit of difficulty climbing into and out of the car; a three year old will likely not have such difficulty. I expected the doors to remain closed to provide some safety to the child but I was surprised to find that the trunk didn't provide even a little bit of storage space for, say, a box of chalk or a small snack.
The hard plastic seats are a surprisingly attractive tan color with chrome Mustang accents. Also surprising was the discovery that the seats can be moved fore/aft relatively easily by removing and relocating a couple of screws. Seatbelts are on both seats, consisting of pink Velcro strips that accomodate virtually all child sizes. The windshield is opaque but that doesn't matter since your child will be looking over the top of it rather than through it.
A dashboard-mounted battery gauge shows battery life via four LEDs, activated by pushing a button next to the gauge. Simple and effective for what it does.
The 'radio' has two buttons positioned where knobs would be on a real car stereo, and is powered by three AA batteries (not included, naturally). The left button inexplicably beeps the car's horn. (Has anyone discovered a car horn that beeps when you push the left knob of your stereo?) The right button cycles through about a half dozen instrumental song clips, each about 30 seconds and each more annoying (to adult ears) than the last. In this day and age when you can buy a half-gig MP3 player for under $20 I would have liked the ability to upload my daughter's favorite songs to the radio.
One thing which I've noticed about all Power Wheels toys: None of them have a simple on/off switch. My concern - so far unwarranted, but still a concern nonetheless - is that my daughter will be climbing into the car and accidentally tap the accelerator pedal before she's securely in her seat, and thus cause her to fall backwards (or forwards) and injure herself. It continues to surprise me that Fisher-Price doesn't include a simple cut-off switch on the dashboard to control power.
Power Wheels vehicles have long had a good reputation and rank very high on the "I WANT" meter for kids toys. (I remember DESPERATELY wanting one when I was a kid, 35 years ago...) Even though my daughter is still too small to fully command her Power Wheels (the sudden acceleration startles her, and she doesn't understand how to steer) you can see the joy in her face even when she's just sitting in the car at a stand-still.

The description advises that it will go on hard surfaces & grass, not really. The tires are slick plastic & just spin, even on the slightest incline on the drive. I ordered some 'traction bands' based on another's previous review. We're waiting for them to arrive to see if they make a difference.
"Realistic details inside and out like a real-working FM radio" Ummm, this is a stretch....realistic details are stickers & the fm radio plays static, hard to get a station, now that could be just me, I do live in a rural area. One thing I thought they could have is a horn, I was surprised not to find one.
It is fun for my daughter to drive, take her dolls & toys along & a friend. Our dog runs along side with her & everyone gets some fun! Even mom, dad, grandparents, aunts & uncles as we watch:)

Details such as body lines, fold in mirrors, working radio make this a very convincing "G wagon". It gives your child around three hours of play if he/she is around 45lbs. Very easy to control and will bring years of entertainment for your child. The drawbacks are that it came a dull gray not silver. The wheels are cheap plastic and the seat is not adjustable even though it was described to do so. Other than that, it delivers comparable quality to that of Power Wheels products. It was decided because it was different from the other kid's Power Wheels and it's a Mercedes!

(More customer reviews)This is an Mercedes officially licensed product. So the look and feel is somewhat more sophisicated. It has decent power. It is also quite tolerant to different road surface. It fits 2 small toddlers or 1 7 yr old (the product only mentioned 3 yr+, 130 lb max)
The smaller shipping cartoon means the reduced shipping cost is at the expense of more parts to assemble. Compare to some other cars in this category, this one takes much more time to assemble. The manual is reasonably clear. The package comes with enough spare parts for you to goof a few times.
However, one unexcusable goof is by the maker. One of the rear-wheel gear connectors came loose during shipping. If you snap it the way the alignments indicated - kaboom - one wheel would go forward and one would go backward, and you won't find out until after *EVERYTHING* is assembled. It took me another hour to undo half the steps to correct it. So....make sure you test the rear gears first.
The stickers are plastic kind - rather delicate but at least water-proof. Just peel it off very slowly.
Overall, pricy compared to the Hummers and Jeep. But it's an Mercedes.

(More customer reviews)First of all, the official product mentioned 3+, never say 3yr-10yr old like Amazon.com said. So don't expect this to be a much bigger car for bigger kids - it's basically the same size as other cars in this category, just a tad higher.
Secondly, this vehicle is not all terrain like the Hummers. It easily get stuck on small grass slope. If the road is bumpy? Forget about it.
Thirdly, all the stickers are made of grossy paper. How much sense does it make? IMHO: None. This is supposed to be an outdoor vehicle which will subject to moisture, UV light, and dirt, let alone rain. Why would cheap paper stickers are used? This is just beyond my comprehension.
Last but not least, enjoy the poorly illustrated and printed manual, thanks to the artificially cheap Chinese currency.
For the performance and vehicle size, you could get the Hummer or Jeep at near half the price. The product is not returnable, tough luck.

(More customer reviews)We purchased this toy as a Christmas gift for our daughter.... it was a great purchase! It is great! The product description was accurate. My daughter practically spent the entire day in this car the day after it was assembled. And all of our adult friends who have seen the car are in awe of the functionality of the gadgets i.e. the lights, horns and especially the radio, not to mention the cool design of the car.
Everything seems to be in fine working order thus far except for the left side of the "engine" cover appears to be broken but it seems minor and does not interfere with the functioning of the car.
I was a little surprised at the "kick" the car has even on low speed but my daughter adjusted to it quite well after the first few seconds.
The FM radio tuner is great ... very clear and surprisingly loud, I haven't figured out where the speakers are located yet.
Assembly time was about 20-25mins. We were on the move after 24hr charging the battery! So far so good!

(More customer reviews)I purchased this jeep for my son's 3rd birthday. It rides well on the grass, wet or dry. It also runs well on gravel and through a sand patch that we have in the yard. I was very surprised how long the battery lasts. I have read other power wheels reviews in which people say the battery does not last long. I would strongly disagree. If you charge it like the manual says, you shouldn't have any problems. We have had the jeep for a little over a month now and my son and I are extrememly pleased with it. I can't wait until my other son is big enough to ride in it with his brother. Highly recommended!!!!

(More customer reviews)We received our Power Wheels as a hand-me-down. The original owners lost the charger so I came to Amazon to replace it. When the charger arrived, I originally thought it did not match the battery that Amazon says it should go to (the grey battery with a three section opening). Eventually I realized that the connector from the actual Jeep to the battery and the connector from the charger to the battery do not look alike (at all) but both work. When this charger is inserted into the center portion of the grey battery opening, it will work perfectly. It took me about a month to realize that because I thought the connector should fill all three holes instead of just the one. Once I figured that out, we were golden. My kids love this toy now.
I had to come back and edit my original review where I indicated they don't match. I can't seem to edit my star rating but I now think it's a 5 star item and I would recommend this charger.
