On the negative side- motor gets excessively hot due to heatsink blocking cooling holes in motor. Works better without canopy- all in all, 4 out of 5. Can't be beat for the price!!!

This 2 foot long, 1 pound heli is super in the dark, the transmitter shows heli battery power,
its an outdoor helicopter, flies high and far, but it may need some as of yet unavailable upgrades:
like better battery or better forward momentum. but maybe i need some more practice, havent flown it much because you cant have any wind current. its tricky like most back rotor helis in that you have to
ascend quickly on takeoff or you'll do a right turn clyde into the ground..... 9.6 volt 800 ma powerful.
a super transmitter could help some as this transmitter the trim buttons move picking it up.
but i would say that for twice the price of your cheapest indoor micro heli, this is a must have for the price if nothing else, than to have and wait for upgrades,... ... . .. . . . . ..... . ...

(More customer reviews)Got one of these from my father in law after trying 2 channel style. This helicopter is way easier to control right out of the box. It even comes with an extra set of blades. Some other brands dont for more money. With my nieces and nephew this thing has been through alot. Barely now the blades are showing wear. It said for indoor use but we didnt listen. Dont recomend outside any little breeze interfers. Since you go higher up outside it crashes harder. Thats what cracked the blades and broke the light that sticks out the bottom front. I lost some control compared to when they were new. It's still not worth putting on the second set of extra blades. It's still going

(More customer reviews)I purchased this item as a Christmas gift for 3 of my grandsons, ages 8 thru 11. They loved them. Even more amazing, my husband and my stepson loved them as well. None of them could stop playing with them. My husband charged them up the night before so that they would be ready to fly the next morning. Well he had to recharge them because he kept flying them. He said he wanted to make sure they worked. I understood that but it took him a long time to realized that they worked properly, smile. The next day, my stepson was showing his sons how to fly them and he would hardly let them go. The boys got bikes as well. My husband and I felt that it was good that they had something they could play with in and outside. They played with the flying saucer so much that the bikes didn't interest them at first. Later in the day, they rode their bikes. When they did, my stepson started playing with the flying saucers. All day he kept saying, "you should have got me one of these". So in my opinion, this was "a great gift".

When I got it working, the lights on the left side of the model were inoperable.The batter compartment is poorly designed in that you can't charge the battery in the helicopter and it is a task to take the battery in and out of the compartment. I spent one day playing with it in doors at heights of no more than 1 foot. The second day I tried to fly it higher. I got it to 4 feet and the prop mechanism fell apart and the helicopter crashed to the ground.

(More customer reviews)I bought this for my 16 year old son. I had bought an r/c helicopter before, but we could never seem to get it to perform, and it was big so only for outside. Since he has had this little guy, he has had a lot of flying time and a lot of fun. It took a couple of days to get the hang of controlling it, and fiddling with the collective on-the-fly, but it has been a great success.
It is lightweight and more resilient than you might think, I have to say, it took a lot of battering when he was first learning. Note: after you crash, make sure the gears are lined up before taking off again:-). The replacement part kit is nearly as expensive as the plane itself. ugh! On the positive side, a little tape works fine for repairing the rotors, and we just had to do that last week, so he has had it for 2 months of learning before actually breaking the thin plastic. (Actually, his 18 year old brother came home from college and was trying to learn how to fly it...)
We bought an a/c adapter for the charging unit. A good product and a good price, I don't think I would go younger than 15 or so, unless they have helo experience.

(More customer reviews)First, the price on this radio everywhere is around 2,300.00. Anything more and you are getting taken.
This radio is the best out there. I have Spektrum (mostly garbage - engineers are stuck in 1970 avoid. I got this for the bind n fly only), JR (pretty good - definitely a huge step up in the DSM2 world), and Futaba. I prefer Futaba due to excellent interface (you'll know what I mean when you try to program a dx7 or other Spektrum) over the Horizon Hobby line of products. It has excellent response, can be upgraded (it's a PC with a radio attached), great features (you could not possibly think of any they left out), and touch and feel. The biggest knock on this transmitter is the price. No radio should cost more than $1300....

Biggest challenge is keep it from falling onto hard surfaces which crack the plastic feet and case but it still flies despite the cracks. The battery charge only last 10-15 minutes with on and off use but the kids think it is great. Control is only up and down, to left, right, forward or back, per se. Bought an extra in case this one breaks but 2 months later it is still working.

(More customer reviews)This case was purchased for the purpose of shipping a heli to me safely with the case. I got the case shipped to my father and then he put the heli in it and shipped to me. Not sure if it came broken, or broken in shipping, or broken by my father (not likely all he did was take it out of the box open it, put heli in, then close, and put back in the box for shipping.) But two of the corners are broken, those cheap plastic corners are what hold the metal frame in place, which is what holds the cheap outer panels in place. It was just broken enough to where it would still open and close and look like normal, but the slightest pressure and everything falls apart. To ship back from my location it would cost over half the price of the case, so it wouldn't be cost effective to even send back for a replacement. I guess I am stuck with it. I'll epoxy it like crazy and just handle it very lightly from no on.

-very durable. been in about 30 crashes and still working great. unlike other copters around this price, it covers up essential parts
-very stable. (no tail rotor) Easily ajusted trim with precise accuracy.
-fires missles!
Negatives:
-unpackaging is very difficult
-a tad slow. only controls are how high and which direction, no speed control
-only 5-10 minutes of flight after 25-30 minutes of charging
-quickly wastes batteries after a week of usage. (I recommend rechargable)
-after 3-4 weeks, missles have difficulty staying loaded
-missles can be easily lost. be careful
-the targets are sad excuses for themselves. just thin pieces of cardboard easily knocked down by wind from the copter.

(More customer reviews)This little RC heli is a lot of fun. It's perfect for beginner getting the first RC heli. It's durable, as I have dropped it multiple times an run its blades against the wall already. It's easy to fly and control.
The key to flying this heli is to make sure you have plenty of space indoor, like a room with high ceiling. It's easy to go up and down, and the trim is easy to set. However, it's not that easy to make it turn left or right. It just likes to circle on its own. That's probably why it's a beginner heli.
The flight time is decent, about 5 to 10 minutes per charge. Once it does not go up and hovers just a couple inches above the ground, it's about time to get it charged.
Overall, it gives you a lot of fun, but at the same time, you'll want to upgrade and ask for more on a better heli.
