The only thing this product has in common with the "Original" Big Wheel is the name and stickers (which Alpha International and Gamma 2 apparently bought, hoping to cash in on the nostalgia-market of my demographic).
By my count a full 20 of the 46 (43%) reviews on Target.com reported missing parts. This review makes 21 (& bumps the percentage to 45%). That is an unacceptable failure rate, and does not even account the negative reviews relating to the near-impossibility of actually putting the big wheel together.
We purchased this toy for our son for Christmas. Building it prior to Christmas, I discovered the big wheel was missing the axle. Thank you, Target, Alpha International, and Gamma 2 for leaving me to explain to my 2 1/2 year old that he could not have the one thing for which he actually asked, because "Santa goofed." When I was finally able to get a hold of someone who could take an order for a new part, I was shipped two rear wheels, not the axle needed. Another phone call resulted in the delivery of an EMPTY container, so poorly packaged that the axle slid out while in transit. Today I finally received the axle and again tried to build the gift (a full FOURTEEN days after Christmas). On my first attempt to insert the seat posts into the corresponding holes on the frame of the big wheel, the right post broke.
The "customer service" number in the instructions is a joke; all Big Wheel inquiries must be made via[...], which advises that there is a 5-7 lead time before they can / will respond. Target's corporate call center was less than helpful, giving the standard "so sorry to hear that" line without offering much in the way of resolution.
46 reviews and a 1.5 Star rating [....]... What is Target going to do to respond to this? Target... if you cannot do business with reputable partners who provide quality products, why should the public do business with you?

(More customer reviews)If you'll notice the models this is identical trike to models listed at from $[...] to $[...]EXCEPT for the "canopy" which is next to useless and very poorly made. The only way it would block sun is if it were directly overhead ...what, maybe one hour a day? And the stiffner in it is frail skimpy plastic so it always looks cockeyed and breakes easily at the mounting holes! One other overpriced version of this same trike has a parents pouch up there instead ....at least that is somewhat practical! (although there is a little storage even on the canopy version)....personally if I had to do over again I would not bother with the canope model... even though we bought it at [...] assembled for less than half of the [...] bucks this one is listed at here! [...]

They weren't too bad to put together either. One thing that I like about these trikes is that they are VERY heavy, so the girls don't tip over on the when they turn sharply. These are the coolest trikes and I highly recommend them!

Aero Trike - Red Review

(More customer reviews)With respect to the previous review, we had a very positive experience with our Aero Trike. We own (literally) several different tricycles, as our children love to play outside, particularly with their cousins and friends. Besides Radio Flyer's tricycle, we strongly recommend the Aero Trike. It was a breeze to assemble. The wheels grip the ground and have good traction; our children are able to control/steer without problems. It is very easy for both our 1-year old and 3-year old to peddle. And it isn't prone to tipping over easily like some other tricycles.
Like our other tricycles, we put the Aero Trike away when not in use. We can't vouch whether or not the Aero Trike can withstand the elements over time, or if it rusts/ages quickly while sitting outside.
While we rate it 5 stars, we wish this tricycle cost less. ($40 is a bit steep.) And it would be nice if the unit had brakes.

LiL Red Tricycle Review

Parts were cheaply made often thin plastic and even after it was put together it was wobbly and cheap in its appearance. It looked and felt like a used item. I will never again buy a tricycle online. The company also did not respond to my email requesting information on where the parts had been painted and if I should be concerned about lead paint.

Radio Flyer Twist Trike Review

(More customer reviews)I just bought this tricycle for my son who will be 2 in a couple of weeks. He is almost 35 inches and several inches too short for this tricycle. I am disappointed the manufacturer advertises this bike for 2+ years, but doesn't qualify it with the child's height needed to ride the bike. While the bike is adjustable, it isn't adjustable until your child is ready for the chopper side. That means your child has to be about 36-37 inches at least to be tall enough to start using this bike. My son was so excited to have his first bicycle, but is too small to ride this one. The advertising is misleading...
The bike was easy to assemble and appears to be sturdy. I would recommend it for parents of older children (or taller 2 year olds).

Big Wheels - 16 inch The Original Review

(More customer reviews)I purchased this item for my 2 year old's birthday. Unfortunately he is not quite big enough to reach the pedals, but his older brother (almost 4) loves it. He is zipping around the driveway and we even put out pieces of plywood for 'jumps'. He has used it all summer with zero problems.
I read the complaints about the durability and was concerned about purchasing the big wheel, but there is not alternative product out there in the same price range. I decided to go for it and I'm glad I did. Make no mistake - assembly is a pain. Everything went smooth except getting the pedals on. I ended up taking it into my shop and bracing it on my work bench while I tapped the pedal into position with a hammer. I was worried about breaking the plastic with the hammer, but using extra caution I was able to get the pedal COMPLETELY into place. I suspect that anyone who had problems with the pedals falling off only got the pedal on partway. It took 10-15 minutes to get these pedals on and I couldn't pull them off if I tried.
If you're looking at the big wheel for your little one, I say go for it. Instructions should say 'patience required', but take a deep breath, do it right the first time, and then sit back and enjoy watching your kids have a blast zipping up and down the driveway.

(More customer reviews)I ordered this trike for my second daughter because i had always heard good things about Kettler trikes. I liked the option of the handle in the back and that it had adjustable seat and handles so it would grow with her. First off we only received instructions in German, so that wasn't a good start. And now we are having trouble with the handle bar that is inserted into the front wheel to steer the bike. It's like the part is loose or stripped so when you want to steer you can't cause it's not a tight fit. I thought this bike was top quality for what we paid, but I was very disappointed. I don't think I would buy another after this experience.

Preschool Fold-Up Tricycle Review

This was the only bike where he could touch the ground while sitting on the seat - and he test drove every trike at Toys'R'US. The bike has taken a lot of abuse the past 1-1/2 years, but it is holding up great. My son is now 3-1/2 and just starting to grow out of this trike. I would recommend this for any first-time rider!

(More customer reviews)My 2 year old daughter is very big for age, and even with the seat at the lowest setting the trike is still a little bit big for her. She can reach the pedals, but not adequately when turning the handle bars. I'm glad she will have room to grow into it so she can use the trike for a while, but I am bummed that she can't fully enjoy it now. It does not seems prone to tipping as other trikes out there, though it will tip given the right conditions. It is a solid trike and I expect it will last to pass on to my baby when he is big enough. I also really like the solid tires-- they seem better for traction than the hollow plastic ones.

(More customer reviews)OK, I have read the reviews and am puzzled by the conflicting reports. I have six kids and have owned many trikes over the years. This one is by far the best I have seen. I think other reviewers may be reviewing different Radio Flyer trikes. This model comes in the primary or pastel colors, although the pastel is hard to find. It is very stable and I could not get it to tip with even very firm pressure. The handle bars do not turn all the way around, they lock safely before anything dangerous would happen. My daughter is 2.5 and was able to climb on and pedal right in the store. We have been all over the neighborhood this past week and she has not fallen once. My neighbor's 18 month old daughter tried it this afternoon and while she had a tough time figuring out the pedals, there was no sign of tipping or danger. This trike is obviously styled after the Kettler and I think they did a great job at a great price. The trike comes fully assembled and folds for travel. It can even be folded and hung on a hook in the garage. I paid $40 for this trike and I think it is a fabulous find!!

Radio Flyer Twist Trike Review

(More customer reviews)I am rating this down because of misleading advertising. I bought this for a granddaughter after her parents bought her a regular trike that she loves and rides everywhere. She 2.5 and is at the 90 %ile for height, so I thought the recommended age of 24 months should be good, especially when advertised that in "chopper" mode, it can go up to age 7 or so.
We gave it to her one afternoon as a surprise. She was delighted and jumped right on. We had it set up in upright mode. She could only just barely touch the pedals. There is no adjustment in upright mode, so, trying to salvage everyone's disappointment, we flipped it over. She thought that was cool and again, jumped right on. But even in the shortest position, she could not make enough contact to make it go. She quickly lost interest and went off to something else. It's now 5 months later and she still cannot make it go. I am very upset by this misleading advertising. Now I see that several others have reported the same thing. I wish I had read more of the reviews.
For me, the wheels are too hard. They are very noisy and do not get enough traction on hard surfaces. Most of the weight is in the rear.
The twist idea is great. She loved it and will still play with flipping it over, but will not ride it.
It looks great and appears to be well made. When she is older and able to ride it, I will post an update.

EZ Riders BIG Mighty Wheels Chopper Ride-on Motorcycle Review

(More customer reviews)I purchased a Mighty Wheels (not Big Wheel)for my Grand kids.
PROS: The price plus shipping was half of what a Big Wheel would cost and it was easy to assemble.
CONS: After assembling the trike I realize a couple possible shortcomings. The seat design is different than a Big Wheel, it attaches with 4 small screws instead of the easily adjustable seat/back of a Big Wheel. The description says the seat has three positions but in one of the positions the seat only attaches with two screws, this seems a bit flimsy considering the abuse my Grand kids give their toys. And the seat is smaller than the wide seating area on the original Big Wheels.
I think this trike was a good value. We'll see how long it lasts before I have to repair/modify the seat.

Radio Flyer Little Red Roadster Review

(More customer reviews)One thing comes to mind when you handle this toy and that is quality. Radio Flyer has had a reputation for quality for generations and this item is no different.
Not only is it attractive, the workmanship is flawless. There are no small parts to come off and cause a choking hazard.
The steering wheel is actually functional. A feature seldom found on other ride-ons.
The child appears to be in a proper seated position while riding this toy and the ergonomics, with its nice smooth curves, are appropriate and appear to be comfortable (I am too large to verify this :)
The wheels are a nice firm rubber and provide excellent grip unlike other plastic wheels found on other toys. This is especially important for the child who coasts along a smooth surface (i.e. smooth paved garages, etc.).
All this and value too. We are talking about a metal bodied vehicle here, not another plastic generic toy for a very reasonable price. I could be wrong, but this appears to be the only metal ride-on available at this time.
The nostalgia for parents who have grown up with Radio Flyer is there as well and the neat retro styling adds to the products attractiveness.
A must buy!!!!!!!!!!
