My two-year old loves music but destroyed two CD-players by constantly pressing the buttons and opening and closing the units; I was searching for a durable MP3 player without lots of buttons and "Carry A Tune" is exactly what I was looking for. It is easy to hold, durable (has been dropped and even thrown down a flight of stairs and still worked) and allows you to download your own MP3s or children's music CDs onto it. The buttons are simple but still a little bit beyond my son's understanding. An excellent feature is the auto-off feature which saves batteries. Battery life is pretty good.
We discovered recently, however, that the unit is not waterproof when it was dropped into the bathtub by my son. Of course, it is not supposed to be waterproof. We love this so much I am going to buy another one.

(More customer reviews)I purchased this for my son's birthday and he is having so much fun with it. I don't know what the negative review is about. The microphones work great on the player we received. There is an on/off switch for each microphone and a volume control separate from the music volume control. It's easy to use and durable (and my son is not that easy on his toys). There's a mail-in coupon for a free 2-CD set which is a remarkable bargain. The price, free 2-CD set, and twin microphones all helped me decide that this was the right CD player for us. I'm giving it 5 stars and a high recommendation.

LEGO Brick Boombox - Blue Review

(More customer reviews)I bought this boombox for my 4yr old son's bedroom. I thought it was cute, and that it wouldn't be too baby looking in a few years - assuming it would last a few years. What a waste of money. Within 2 weeks the cd player stopped working. It won't play any kind of cd's burned or regular. Not to mention - the sound quality is TERRIBLE, but it didn't seem to bother my 4yr old. The aux input and the radio still work, but the cd player ( which is why we bought it ) is broken. I made the mistake of buying it from ToysRus...they won't take it back. They will exchange it for the identical item....but I don't want to exchange my piece of garbage for another piece of garbage. I wrote to Digital Blue, the company that manufactures this....and they offered to test my unit, and determine whether or not they will REPLACE it. Once again, I DO NOT want piece of junk! Save yourself the frusration and $50.00 ( which is kind of alot for what it is) and DO NOT purchase !

The new player worked for a grand total of 45 seconds before it died. The third has met a similar end. I guess that I just expected more out of a product with Disney's name attached to it. I expected to get a product that would work.

(More customer reviews)I got this after getting the Star Station for my son, but only being able to use the cartriges there. My son LOVES this and listens to this in the car all the time. I love it because he gets to listen to his music and I don't. :)
He even enjoys it soo much that he took it to his first Sharing Day at Kindergarten. He says he listens to it so that he can practice to be on American Idol. Whatever his reason, I love it because it allows him to listen to music and is VERY durable!!!

I usually reseach and research before buying a product but this time I had to take a chance since there were no customer reviews. Well, this time it definately worked out! My 5 year old daughter got this for her birthday and it is very cute. It works well. She has had it for 2 weeks and it is holding up fine. The microphones work great. it does take 6 C batteries and there is not an A/C outlet plug, so you need batteries. Overall, its a great toy, however I paid $56 and now it is listed for $78, so if you can wait a little maybe the price would come down. I think $56 is more in line with what this product should cost. I will update if the product stops working prematurely, but I would definately recommend this adorable product!

Sing-Along CD Player Review

(More customer reviews)My daughter LOVES singing and music, so for her 2nd birthday, I bought her this CD player. At the time, there were not too many reviews and they were very hit or miss, but really there is not much of market for children's toy radios with microphones so I took a chance and I am glad I did. It's been 6 months now and she really enjoys it. It has held up well to rough handling by a 2 year old as well as her constantly sticking the microphone in her mouth with the "aaaaaaaaaahhhhh" as another reviewer mentioned. I haven't bought an AC adapter yet and agree it would be nice, but my daughter likes to move around and dance with it so I'm not sure it would work for her, but truthfully the first set of batteries held up well and I'm now on my second set of batteries after 6 months. The only things that I think could be improved about this is that: 1) the volume can be a little wonky. You have to set the volume up very high, like over 20, to really hear it. The lower volume numbers are ridiculously low. Also, the microphone seems to have MUCH a louder volume as compared to the music no matter what. 2) The microphone coil is pretty short (which might make sense for safety reasons, but it is not unusual to hear that screeching noise due to microphone interference. Obviously, I would prefer microphone interference to a strangulation hazard, but if they can't make the coil longer, then I think they need to address the microphone interference. 3) while I really like the hold function which prevents the child from constantly rewinding, fast forwarding, stopping, etc. while the music is playing, it has a drawback, which is that the child CAN open the cd player while the hold button is on. So if they are very determined like my daughter, they can succeed in playing with the buttons to make it do something other than play music, such as insert, remove cd player, stick your finger in when cd is spinning. Frankly, I think the open and close feature should be disabled while a cd is playing. Now, these are just helpful suggestions if the maker was interested in improvement, but I am actually really happy all in all with the CD player. Seems like I got lucky because it's been 6 months and it keeps working.
UPDATE: This product is still going strong 10 months later. I would say that the microphone interference can be annoying particularly because you can actually have the microphones turned off and still get a tiny bit of static/interference. Again, not hugely annoying but still weird. Looking into other CD players with microphone for kids, it seems like this is a problem across the board with some microphones that actually stop working.
The other thing that is great is that my daugther is not yet 3 obviously cannot read yet, but because the CD players had distinctly shaped buttons (some are squares, triangles, octagon/hexagon, circles, etc.) she is able to memorize that the triangle is for playing and the square for stopping, the smaller up and down triangles for volume control, etc. I think this is advantageous for a smaller group of kids than a CD players with all circular button let's say.

(More customer reviews)We bought this for our youngest daughter at Christmas when she was 6 months old. She is still playing with it at 16 months old. It can keep her occupied for long periods of time, especially if her older sister is sitting with her. It has cute sounds and the songs aren't too annoying. There is a volume control so that is always a plus. You have to watch it and make sure it doesn't stay on, otherwise the lights will keep flashing indefinately.

You would have thought it was Christmas again my son was so excited about his new CD player. Right out of the box, the CD player worked alright, although the sound was pretty terrible. Within two days, the CD player just quit reading any CDs. My son was very careful with it, so it didn't break from being banged around. Needless to say, I had to send it back, and now I have one very dissappointed 4-year old.

(More customer reviews)We've had this cd player for a year with two young children (now ages 2 and 4), and it's held up great. We've even packed it (carefully) in suitcases to take on plane rides, and it's still going with no trouble. I like the "hold" switch in the back which basically shuts down the button operation so that no matter how much the kids press the buttons, it won't respond (so it keeps on playing just as I had intended when I first hit play). Of course, you can flip off the hold switch and let the kids do as they wish. The microphones are fun, but the cords are a little short so they give feedback until the child figures out that they need to walk a little further away from the cd player (which they can, but my kids don't generally do so). We mostly use it just as a cd player for now and don't use the microphones all that much yet. Also, you will definitely need an ac adaptor as it eats batteries. We got one at Radio Shack (bring the cd player with you as they'll need to see it to get the exact right adaptor for it.....there are more choices than you'd realize). Overall, we're quite pleased with this and actually looking to buy a second one.

Fisher-Price Laugh & Learn Sing-with-Me CD Player Review

(More customer reviews)I purchased this at a store yesterday for my son's 1st birthday, thinking that the disc gets put into the slot, and it plays the song printed on the disc. WRONG! When I put the first disc in, it only made a cutesy noise. It was then I realized how misleading the packaging is by how the toy is displayed.
This is a cute toy, and my son enjoys dancing to the songs--after I press a button 2-3 times to get THROUGH the noises and TO a song... He is also at the stage where he loves putting things in/taking them out, so he is entertained. I just don't see this having a lot of return play since the in/out phase won't last for too long, and he'll be moving on to other skills soon.
I had no problem paying fifteen bucks for the toy when I thought it worked as stated above, but I now feel ripped off after seeing how the toy actually works.
