(More customer reviews)I bought this for my 5 year-old for her birthday. She absolutely loves it and mastered the operation within minutes. Downloading stories from the website was a little tricky, but in the end was worth the time ($1.99 for most stories). Copying songs from CDs was the best feature. You can pick and delete the songs you want. You can even assign a picture to each song or to a collection of songs. For example, for High School Musical, I assigned a school bus; for the Aquamarine soundtrack, a starfish; Princess and the Pauper, a princess. Anyway, you get the idea. She also really likes the story reading function. I look forward to trying out the speaker/boom box accessory. The headphones seemed bulky to me, but my 5 year old loves how they fit and they don't slide off of her head!
I gave it 5 stars even though we had to return the first one. The play/pause button didn't work consistently, even right out of the box. It is marketed as a "kid tough" design, but we may have just had a bad player, as the replacement one seems to work fine, even after dropping it a few times. I also recommend the blue case; the pink one is very pale pink and all of the ones in store were already scuffed up and dirty.

(More customer reviews)We bought this for our 3 year old son. He loves it. The software is super easy to use. My Son's attention span isn't as long as the amount of music this can hold. My only complaint is the voice record feature. It is one button on the mp3 player and if your child pushes it it will record automaticly. Any and all sound including interference from other electronic devices. Makes a terrible sound. You then have to plug the MP3 into your computer to erase all the files recorded via the voice record button. Also, these voice record files land under the favorites category. This is the first category that comes on whenever you turn on the unit. A possible way to avoid this is to fill up the MP3 as much as you can so there is no room for recording. However it is hard to find that exact golden number so that you have 000 MBs/KBs left. I have yet to hit that nail on the head. Aside from this one long winded complaint I would reccomend this unit even though it is a bit $$.

My two-year old loves music but destroyed two CD-players by constantly pressing the buttons and opening and closing the units; I was searching for a durable MP3 player without lots of buttons and "Carry A Tune" is exactly what I was looking for. It is easy to hold, durable (has been dropped and even thrown down a flight of stairs and still worked) and allows you to download your own MP3s or children's music CDs onto it. The buttons are simple but still a little bit beyond my son's understanding. An excellent feature is the auto-off feature which saves batteries. Battery life is pretty good.
We discovered recently, however, that the unit is not waterproof when it was dropped into the bathtub by my son. Of course, it is not supposed to be waterproof. We love this so much I am going to buy another one.

LEGO 2GB MP3 Player Review

It is a lot smaller than I was expecting (2 5/8in long, 5/8in deep), and it has the capability to stack LEGOs on top and underneath it, which is neat and nostalgic. I like fidgeting with the LEGOs while I listen to it on longer subway rides. The package even comes with 2 matching LEGOs to get you started, and a pair of cheap little white earbuds (which are just about as good as you would expect, no better or worse).
Now, let's get down to what the player can do. It has a very tiny little LCD screen, and a small nubbie type control button that you push to move around the menus with. It is intuitive to use but comes with easy instructions as well. It might be hard to use if you have really large clumsy fingers or have a tough time seeing small font. There are 3 menus, the music menu, the pictures, and the options. Music is sorted in terms of albums and artists, and is simple to navigate. As the music plays, it displays the album title and track title, along with cover art (if you put that on the player as well). As far as music goes, it plays music fine. It does add a delay to the beginning of songs, and it has a "fadeout" time when you pause a song. It plays about 1-2seconds longer than you would like and fades a bit. It doesn't bother me much though. What has begun to bother me is the fact that you can't look around the other menus and play a song. Any time you stray from the song playing menu, the song stops. Therefore, you can't line up the next song while the current one is playing.
In the photo menu, I can't figure out how to do anything but display the pictures. You can't set any of them as wallpaper or anything, all you can do is view them, and the screen is way too small and pixelated for it to be a useful feature. It seems like a slightly useless menu option. In the options menu, you can alter the brightness, the backlight, mess with the equalizer, change the language, and set a sleep timer. I was surprised because it doesn't have any sort of clock built into it. I liked being able to check the time on my old MP3 player. It doesn't have any program that you need to install for it, you just plug it in to the computer and load your music on. No need for any outside program or anything. It has an optional LEGO skin for your windows media player, but it is just an optional perk.
As far as battery life goes, I have not had it long but it seems to be playing strong. The package boasts 7-8hrs, and I will edit the review if I find any discrepancies. If what you are looking for is an attractive pocket-size little MP3 player, this should fit the bill.
Advantages:
Nostalgic and cute.
Stackable with LEGO bricks.
Small and portable.
No installation needed.
Simple to use with good instruction manual.
Disadvantages
Only 2gb
LCD screen is tiny and harder to see than most screens
Songs "fade" when you pause and restart songs

Fisher Price Kid Tough FP3 Song & Story Player - Blue Review

The pros:
1. The volume maximum is not so loud that it will hurt their ears if they turn it up all the way.
2. The construction is sturdy, good for rough and tumble pre-schoolers who like to drop and throw things.
3. The large buttons and icon navigation are very easy for a 3 year-old to understand.
4. The "create your own icon" feature is a nice touch for odd songs.
5. The ability to choose stories or song from the get go is a nice option.
6. The headphones actually fit little heads unlike the ones that come with those cheap portable cd players you might have purchased for your little one in the past.
7. The Fisher Price web site is filled with reasonably priced music and stories appropriate for the pre-school age group.
The cons:
That being said, there is one large flaw: importing MP3s! I spoke with the customer support staff at Fisher Price and they said it was a legal issue with the owners of the MP3 format. I don't care!! Work it! To import the music and stories you already have on your computer, this is what you will have to do:
1. Burn all of the music and stories you would like to import onto a cd.
2. Copy the songs/stories from the cd to the Fisher Price FP3 software.
3. Transfer each song/story to the FP3 player.
4. Type in title and artist information for each song/story.
5. Choose an icon, or create an icon from scratch.
6. Assign the icon to the story/song.
This is a huge pain! Just filling my son's FP3 player took over 3 hours.
A word of advice to those of you buying the FP3 player as a gift, burn all of the music/stories onto a cd ahead of time! Block out a few hours to program the FP3 player Christmas morning or after the birthday party, or better yet, do it all ahead of time so that you give the gift ready to go out of the gift box to avoid a tantrum (yours & theirs).
Kudos Fisher Price on developing a nice portable digital music system for pre-schoolers. I blow a raspberry at you for the painful process you make parents go through.

Disney 512Mb Mix Stick Princess Flower Mp3 Player Review

(More customer reviews)People who are afriad to take thier Ipod, cellphone or other expensive player to the gym or trail running will love this option. I picked up the "Nightmare Before Christmas" version. I had low expectations, owing to a consumer review that said the sound quality was poor. I was pleasantly surprised to find that this player performes very well, the sound is great, and the controls are easily mastered.
The player has an on/off switch, repeat and shuffle buttons, and a typical skip forward, skip backward, play/pause volume up and down layout.
The lanyard my player came with was a plastic lanyard which does not easily pull off. the lanyard's materials do not absorb sweat or odor.
I did not use the included earbuds- I had several pairs of my own already that I preferred.
I also did not use the included software- I doubt it will run on my Windows Vista system, but the songs are easily placed on the player as though it were a thumbdrive.
The built-in rechargable battery has more than enough power between charges- I've used mine off and on for a couple days between charges. The manual says you can expect 8-10 hour playtime continuously.
Pros: Solid player, inexpensive and unique.
Ease of use. Slot for SD (most inexpensive media available) in case the included memory is lacking. Laynard is durable.
Cons: Software is out of date, no LCD screen of any kind. The player's fast forward is difficult to use, so picking up a podcast or audio book where you left off is difficult; the player automaticly returns to the beginning of a song or chapter when the player is powered off.
All in all, it is no ipod replacement. However, if you are looking for a first MP3 player for a child or one that you can have at the gym or out running, this is a great choice.

(More customer reviews)I bought this item (not from Amazon) for my daughter to go with her Disney mix stick. It worked for literally 2 minutes and then the speakers cut out, never to work again. Thinking I'd gotten a bad one, I exchanged it, only to have the same thing happen again. Still determined to make good on my daughter's Christmas present, we bought a 3rd one, which also worked for about 2 minutes. The Mix Stick mp3 player worked fine with a Creative speaker system, so it was definitely the Jam Stand that had the problem. Obviously, there is a design flaw and I wonder if any of the Jam Stands that have been manufactured actually work.

I usually reseach and research before buying a product but this time I had to take a chance since there were no customer reviews. Well, this time it definately worked out! My 5 year old daughter got this for her birthday and it is very cute. It works well. She has had it for 2 weeks and it is holding up fine. The microphones work great. it does take 6 C batteries and there is not an A/C outlet plug, so you need batteries. Overall, its a great toy, however I paid $56 and now it is listed for $78, so if you can wait a little maybe the price would come down. I think $56 is more in line with what this product should cost. I will update if the product stops working prematurely, but I would definately recommend this adorable product!

(More customer reviews)I bought this for my niece's 8th birthday. I was leery of purchasing an electronic device for her because if it screwed up she'd be disappointed and I'd be mad. Having to use the computer to update and add music to it could be annoying but it's turned out to be easy. I thought about getting her an iPod but the fact that you can only use iPod with iTunes. With this MP3 you can buy music from anywhere and load it onto this MP3. I love the fact this player has separate Disney music SD cards you can use and you can buy an SD card to expand the space of your player.
The only con I have is that you have to plug it into the computer to see what music you have on it. Nearly all MP3's have a screen/scroll reader to see what's playing, considering how well this one is doing; I really wish she could see the stats on the songs. Other than that this purchase, which was her choice, was a great buy. It's her first MP3 player and if she takes care of it, it certainly won't be her last.

(More customer reviews)This is a great idea for a great marketing group . . . little kids who want to listen to music "just like the big kids." The FP3 has a few issues of it own, but the speakers were disappointing. The sound quality is not good. Even with the volume turned up it is difficult to hear. Another huge down fall is that a power cord is not available . . . so you can end up going through batteries pretty fast. To top it all off, my son has difficulty getting the FP3 correctly mounted into the speaker unit on his own. Overall we were very disappointed with this accessory.

I bought the blue one for my grandson, but I wanted to write a review for the pink one as well because I really love this toy. And please note the word TOY! Based on other reviews here and for the blue version of this toy, I guess some people were expecting an honest-to-goodness MP3 player. Are you kidding me? For this price? And made by Playskool? Please. Now that I have that off my chest... on to the rest of my review.
This plays music. No words, no voices... just music. And it plays a LOT of music! 100 tunes are included! You can "download" music by inserting the attached cable to the side of the toy. You can NOT download anything from the internet with this toy. Remember... it's a TOY! There are five music categories:
- Classical Melodies - Piano keys at top of screen
- Rock and Dance - Guitar at top of screen
- World Groves - Drums at top of screen
- Rhythmic Rhymes - Goose (as in Mother Goose) at top of screen
- Soothing Tunes - Moon and stars at top of screen Again... keep in mind that there are no lyrics. Nobody is singing. It's just nice music that little ones will enjoy controlling on their own. I bought this for my 4-year-old grandson, and he loves it!
The screen shows fun things while the music is playing. Not photos... just black-and-white computer generated fun things like a rocket taking off, bubbles, a stick figure dancing, and more.
If you're looking for a real MP3 player, look elsewhere... not in the toy section. But if you're looking for a really good musical toy for a child, this is it. My age recommendation is for youngsters of 3 to 5 years old. They'll be thrilled with this! I love this toy!

Fisher-Price Kid-Tough Music Player with Microphone - Blue Review

(More customer reviews)I was skeptical of purchasing this item, since although Fisher-Price is a great brand, there haven't been the greatest reviews on some of the other "Kid Tough" items. But I am SO GLAD I did!
This was purchased as a birthday present for my 3 year old. He loves music, and I had contemplated buying him an Ipod Touch for his birthday for the music and games, but instead purchased this and Leapster Explorer.
It holds a good amount of music, around 50-60 songs, depending on the length. The sound is loud but not too loud. The microphone is cute and my son loves to sing along with his music.
It is VERY durable, and I don't worry about my son playing with it, even though drops are inevitable.
The setup is very simple, you download software from fisher price and then it has a very simple uploader for your songs.
Overall, I think this is a great choice for any child who loves music and has their favorite songs. The battery power leaves a bit to be desired, so I would invest in rechargeable batteries.
